Terrestrials

The inspiration for this series came from a couple of places; the paintings of Victoria Young Jamieson (one of which I’m pleased to have a print of hanging in my studio) and a concept for another project where I was playing with textural images in shapes. I have always been fascinated by textures in nature and have often captured these when I’ve been out exploring, building up a library of interesting images that have until now gone unused.

When I combined these within a circle shape it immediately evoked visuals references of the planets. This was the catalyst for the Terrestrials, a series of images of planetary bodies created of close up parts of our own planet.
